Obit--11-jul-1990--Vincent E Schirf--Mr Schirf,73, of 602 Lincoln Way West, Mishawaka, Indiana, died at 11:15 am Tuesday July 10 1990 at his home after an extended illness. Mr Schirf was general managerof the Mishawaka Municipal Utilities Co. from 1965 to 1980 and proir to that was district manager of the Indiana and Michagan Electrical Company. He was born July 6 1917 in Altoona, the son of Edward and Josephine (Eckenrode) Schirf and sept 27 1941 in South Bend Married Irene Licherowicz Conners. Surviving are his wife, eight children: Mary A ward and MArgaret J Shumacher of Toledo Ohio, Dr Dorothy J Schirf-Friedman of Columbus Ohio, Patricia J Chomyn of Woodstock Ga; Annette J Lumley of Orlando Florida; Vincent E jr. Sudbury Mass; William R of Niles and James of Mishawaka; and 15 grandchildren. Also surviving are three sisters and a brother; Herbert, Ester Richabaugh and Pauline of Altoona and Gertrude Derrick of Muncy. Mr Schirf was a member of St Joseph's Catholic Church, Mishawaka. He was also a member of the Federal Poer Commission and American Legion Rotary Club and Moose Lodge, all of Buchanan Mich. Mr Schirf was a Navy Veteran of World War II, serving as a lieutenant and chief engineer aboard the USS Charles R Grier in the South Pacific. He was a graduate of the University of Notre Dame, South Bend. Internment was made in South Bend.

Mr. & Mrs. Herbert J. Schirf, 209 South 6th Street, are observing their
58th wedding anniversary at their home today, April 28.
Mr Schirf and former Dorothy Ernest were married April 28,1938 in St. Mary's
Catholic Church by the late Rev. George Bock.
They are the parents of six children: Madeline Lightner, Huntingdon, Janet
Kazinski, Holidaysburg, John, North Carolina, Herbert Jr.,Bartlett Ill.,
William, Juniata, and Ronald, Altoona. They have 14 grandchildren and six
great-grandchildren. Mr Schirf retired from Conrail after 40 yrs service.
Mrs Schirf was employed as a secretary-stenographer and as sales clerk for
several years.
