!Obit--1949--Denis Anicetus Schirf of 209 sixth street died at 10;35 o'clock last night in the Altoona Hospital where he was admitted yesterday after an extended illness. He was born in Nicktown Sept. 9 1879, a son of Peter and Teresa (Stoltz) Schirf. His wife Mrs Anna (Meyers) Schirf died March 5 1939. Mr Schirf was a member of St Mark's Catholic Church and of the Holy Namew Society. He Retired Nov 1 1940 as a car inspector for Pennsylvania Railroad company. Surviving are one daughter and two sons, Mrs Gordon Gill of Chest Springs, Louis F of the city and James P at the home; 10 grandchildren two brothers and two sisters, Thomas of Anadarko Okla. Mrs Annie Strohmeyer of NIles Ohio, Frank and Mrs Mary Shank of the city. Mr Schirf reposes at V L Stevens funeral home.

!1939-Obit-Mrs Annie Caroline Schirf of 209 south sixth street, died at her home yesterday afternoon at 2:13 o'clock. She was born in Altoona on Dec 15 1875, a daughter of Gebhart and Elizabeth (Storm) Myers. Surviving are her husband Denis A Schirf;three children, Mrs Clara Elizabeth Gill of Chest Springs, Louis Francis of Chest Springs and JAmes Peter at home, one sister Miss Rosa Myers of Altoona and two brothers, Andrew and George Myers both of Altoona. Mrs Schirf was a member of St Mark's Catholic Church. The body may be viewed at the home.

Newspaper Funeral Notice: Services for Thomas Jacob Schirf, pioneer Anadarko area farmer, will be held at 9:00 am Friday in the Holy Family Catholic Church with Father Edward Bock Paster, Officiating. Schirf who farmed three miles out and one and half south of Andarko since 1905, died about 7 am Monday at his home. He apparently had suffered a heart attack. Rosary will be said at 8 pm Thursday at the Smith Funeral Chapel. Burial will be in the Anadarko Memory Lane Cemetery. Schirf was born Jan 31 1881 at Altoona PA. His wife, who died in July 1954 and four children preceded him in death. Survivors are five sons, Bernard, Baltimore Md. Gerald, Anadarko, Paul Washington DC and Tommy Oklahoma City; four daughters, Mrs Agnes Sherpard, Norfolk Va. Mrs Rita Hatfield, Selma California, Mrs Angeline Hanson Anadarko, and Mrs Betty Hoekler, Wichita Kan ; one sister, Mrs Anna Strohmeyer, Niles Ohio; and 35 grandchildren.
Obit-Maude C Schirf of 1826 Crawford Ave. died at 9 am Yesterday feb 14 1973 in Milwaukee Wis. She was born Oct 1 1884 in Wilmore, a dughter of Jerome and Catherine (Flick) Eckenrode, and married Frank A Schirf, who died sept 27 1951. Surviving are thr children Robert F with whom she resided, Mrs Ethel Vukmanovich of Altoona Aand Mrs Catherine Vukmanovich of Fort wayne Ind., 10 grandchildren and six great grandchildren. Mrs Schirf was of Sacred Heart Catholic Church and nights of St George Auxillary. Friends will be received in Stevens Mortuary from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 tomorrow.

Death has entered the home of Mr and Mrs Nicholas P. Schirf of 510 Twenty third street on three occassions during the last two months, two sons and one daughter succumbing. The third death in the family occured last evening, a daughter dying at the Mercy hospital. Two children died during December, Milton Nicholas Schirf, aged 2 years and 8 months, died on Dec. 7, of pulomonary embolism. Less than two weeeks later on Dec 19, a brother Leroy F. aged 1 year and 7 months died of measels. The third child died last evening at 8 o'clock at the Mercy hospital Being Clotilda M. Schirf, aged 7 years. She was taken ill at the family home several days ago and was taken to the hospital. She suffered from pneumonia. The child was a daughter of Nicholas P. and Anna (Shank) Schirf and was born in this city. Surviving are the parents and two sisters and one brother. The funeral will be held from the family home tomorrow morning, the remains to be taken to Nicktown, Cambria county, for interment, The body will be taken on the 7:40 O'Clock train.
A fourth member of the family circle died during December, Regis C., infant son of Edward Schirf, the latter being a brother of N. P. Schirf, dying after a short illness. The youngster was a cousin of the Nicholas Schirf children.
2!Obit 2-4-1970--Anna Strohmeyer a native of Altoona residing at 510 Iowa St Niles Ohio, died at her home March 4 1970 after a two year illness. She was born March 3 1888, a daughter of Peter and Theresa (Stoltz) Schirf and in Nov 1907 married Edward Strohmeyer. 13 Children, Walter and Ira Niles Ohio, Raymond of Twinsburg, Clement of Solon, Virgil of Cleveland, Paul of Howland, Regis of Evansville, Mrs Coletta Griffin of Crown Point Ind., Mrs Hilda Cox of McDonald, Mrs Dorothy Girdot of Warren, Florence at home and sisters Loretta and Estelle S H G in Saginaw Mich; 64 grandchildren and 24 great-grandchildren.
